Baseball Recap: Kennedy Catholic Comes Up Short

Kennedy Catholic fell victim to St. Peter and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Gaels have suffered since March 14, 2024.

Vince Cannizzaro spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kennedy Catholic saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Thomas Nunziata, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double. That double marked the first that Nunziata hit this season.

Kennedy Catholic now has a losing record of 3-4. As for St. Peter's, they moved to 9-4 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kennedy Catholic will take on Salesian at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Gaels are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for St. Peter's, they will challenge Mt. St. Michael Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Eagles 2.2, the Mountaineers 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
