Baseball Recap: Avon Takes a Loss

Avon blew Berea-Midpark out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Monday Berea-Midpark got their revenge. The Eagles fell just short of the Titans by a score of 6-4. The Eagles just can't catch a break and have now endured five defeats in a row.

Avon got a good showing from Jensen Petro, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Petro has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Jason Gillespie made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Baron Eberly was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI.

Avon's record is now 3-7. As for Berea-Midpark, their victory ended a 12-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-4.

While Avon had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
