Volleyball Recap: Philip Simmons Wins High-Profile Contest Against Carson

Philip Simmons is ranked highly in their home state and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Carson. The Iron Horses walked away with a 2-0 win over the Cougars.

Philip Simmons never let Carson on the board, but things got pretty close in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-16.

McRae Stephenson paced Philip Simmons' offense, picking up eight kills. Stephenson got some help from Dani Gehringer and her 14 assists. Gabby Kakalev controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Philip Simmons pushed their record up to 4-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Carson, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-2.

After both having extra time off, Philip Simmons and Aiken will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:30 p.m. on the 26th. As for Carson, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 3-0 win against Mount Pleasant on the 18th.
