Preview: Catholic Central Crusaders vs. Frontier Cougars
Two dominant forwards in Anna Arai and Morgan Haught are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Catholic Central Crusaders will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against the Frontier Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Last Monday, Catholic Central took a serious blow against the Seminoles, falling 69-34. While losing is never fun, Catholic Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 411th, while the Seminoles are ranked 119th).
The losing side was boosted by Arai, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Arai is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Ella Maragos was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Meanwhile, Frontier unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Monday. They were beaten by River 48-19. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Frontier has scored all season.
Catholic Central now has a losing record at 9-10. As for Frontier, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-6.
Catholic Central came up short against the Cougars in their previous matchup on Saturday, falling 45-35. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Haught, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds. Now that Catholic Central knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
