Baseball Game Preview: Rayne Wolves vs. Catholic - N.I. Panthers

Rayne is on a six-game streak of home wins, while Catholic - N.I. is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Wolves will welcome the Panthers at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Rayne 3.8, Catholic - N.I. 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Rayne's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Port Barre with a sharp 11-0 victory. The Wolves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 games by six runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Catholic - N.I. duked it out with St. Thomas More on Thursday. The Panthers had just enough and edged out the Cougars 1-0. The game was the first time the Panthers have beaten the Cougars on their field since February 24, 2018.

Rayne's win bumped their record up to 18-11. As for Catholic - N.I., their victory bumped their record up to 20-9.

Rayne couldn't quite get it done against Catholic - N.I. in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 as they fell 5-1. Can the Wolves avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
