Football Game Preview: Johnson Jaguars vs. Steele Knights + How To Watch

The Johnson Jaguars will face off against the Steele Knights at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Johnson knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past 12 contests -- so hopefully Steele likes a good challenge.

Johnson is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They strolled past Hutto with points to spare, taking the game 56-37.

The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Elvis Estrada and Kaden Stefek. Estrada had a great game and threw for 112 yards and three TDs on only eight passes. Meanwhile, Stefek was balling out in the loss, throwing for 245 yards and one touchdown, while also punching in one score on the ground.

Meanwhile, Steele entered their tilt with Weslaco on Friday with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 45-14 win over the Panthers. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 53rd, while the Panthers are ranked 254th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Johnson better keep an eye on DJ Green. He was instrumental in Steele's win, throwing for 222 yards and three TDs on only 18 passes. Green has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last four times he's played. Jonathan Hatton was in the mix as well, providing Steele with two scores.

Steele's victory bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Johnson, their win bumped their record up to 12-0.

Things could have been worse for Johnson, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 34-17 loss to Steele in their previous matchup back in November of 2022. Thankfully for the Jaguars, Jaydon Bailey (who rushed for 201 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 11.2 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time.
