Basketball Recap: Croatan Falls to Topsail in First Game of Season

Croatan had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took a 59-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Topsail Pirates on Tuesday.

Despite the loss, Croatan still got an impressive performance from Tyler Thorpe, who posted 14 points and six assists. Gavin Zheng was another key player, putting up six points and seven assists.

Topsail was led to victory by Mason French and Luke Redifer. French scored 13 points and five boards, while Redifer earned 12 points and six rebounds. Those six rebounds gave Redifer a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Logan Carano, who put up 13 points.

Coming up, Topsail will face off against Cleveland at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Croatan will be paying especially close attention to the Pirates' game: after the Pirates face off against New Bern, they'll take on Croatan again at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
