Basketball Recap: Wilkes Central Find Success

Wilkes Central won the last time they faced North Wilkes, and Brady Scott did his part to make sure it happened again. The Wilkes Central Eagles walked away with a 59-52 victory over the North Wilkes Vikings on Tuesday thanks in part to Scott, who went 6 for 11 en route to 17 points and seven steals. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in steals.

Jermaine Ferguson was another key player, putting up 14 points. He has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played.

The win got Wilkes Central back to even at 11-11. As for North Wilkes, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wilkes Central will take on West Wilkes at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Wilkes Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61 points per game this season. As for North Wilkes, they will challenge Surry Central at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Surry Central has five straight victories, North Wilkes has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
