Basketball Recap: Oxbridge Academy Comes Up Short

Oxbridge Academy lost against St. John Paul II Academy back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Oxbridge Academy ThunderWolves were dealt a 67-35 loss at the hands of the St. John Paul II Academy Eagles. The game marked the ThunderWolves' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Oxbridge Academy lost, don't look at Jayden Molinary. Despite the final result, he went 7 for 14 on his way to 19 points. Those 19 points gave Molinary a new career-high.

St. John Paul II Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Dior Johnson, who posted 13 points and three steals. Gabe Loreto was another key player, going 5 of 6 on his way to 16 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Oxbridge Academy and nudges their season record down to 2-10. As for St. John Paul II Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 9-7.

Oxbridge Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, an 82-60 defeat against Cardinal Newman on the 7th. As for St. John Paul II Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Somerset Academy - Canyons at 6:30 p.m. St. John Paul II Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
