Volleyball Recap: Wednesday's Defeat Ends Mesquite's Winning Streak

After flying high against Marcos de Niza on Monday, Mesquite came back down to earth. The Wildcats fell just short of the St. Mary's Knights by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday. The Wildcats' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Mesquite took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The final score came out to 25-20, 15-25, 23-25, 25-13, 15-10.

Caprice Charlie paced Mesquite's offense, picking up 14 kills. Charlie got some help from Cami White and her 36 assists. White was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Mesquite's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 24-6. As for St. Mary's, they pushed their record up to 18-8 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Mesquite didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-2 victory against Arcadia on the 27th. As for St. Mary's, they have also already played their next match, a 3-2 loss against Cactus Shadows on the 27th.
