Baseball Recap: Columbia Christian Beats Lafayette County for Their Third Straight Win

Columbia Christian had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. Everything went their way against the Lafayette County Cougars as they made off with a 23-7 win. Considering the Crusaders have won three contests by more than 14 runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Columbia Christian got a massive performance out of Kash Smith, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave Smith a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Ruston Hern, who scored five runs and stole three bases while going 5-for-5.

Columbia Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .705. Their OBP was a full 0 higher than the also-impressive .524 that Lafayette County posted.

Columbia Christian's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Lafayette County, their defeat was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-3.

Columbia Christian and Lafayette County will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time Columbia Christian sees the field they'll take on Hermitage at 5:00 p.m. on April 1. As for Lafayette County, their break will end when they face Taylor at 5:00 p.m. on April 1.
