Baseball Game Preview: Fitch Falcons vs. Woodstock Academy Centaurs

The Fitch Falcons will square off against the Woodstock Academy Centaurs at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The last four games Fitch has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Saturday, Fitch didn't have quite enough to beat North Kingstown and fell 3-2.

Montville typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Woodstock Academy proved too difficult a challenge. They won by a run and slipped past the Wolves 5-4. The victory continues a trend for the Centaurs in their matchups with the Wolves: they've now won five in a row.

Woodstock Academy's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Camden Nason, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those two hits gave Nason a new career-high.

Fitch's defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-7. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 2.4 runs. As for Woodstock Academy, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.

Everything went Fitch's way against Woodstock Academy when the teams last played back in April, as Fitch made off with a 6-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
