Basketball Recap: Harrisburg Takes a Loss

Harrisburg was the 65-53 winner over State College when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Harrisburg Cougars received a blow on Friday as they fell 48-33 to the State College Little Lions. The game marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

State College was led to victory by Charlie Yartz and Reed Melvin. Yartz dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds, while Melvin went 5 of 12 on his way to 14 points and six assists. Those 12 boards gave Yartz a new career-high.

Harrisburg has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for State College, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-6.

Harrisburg has already played their next game (against Wilson), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. State College will take on Greater Johnstown at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Greater Johnstown will roll in looking for their 16th straight win, something State College surely won't give up without a fight.
