Preview: West Rusk Raiders vs. Daingerfield Tigers
The West Rusk Raiders will head out on the road to face off against the Daingerfield Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. West Rusk is coming into the game hot, having won their last eight games.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only West Rusk walked away with it. They took down New Diana 50-35 on Friday. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
West Rusk can attribute much of their success to Cole Jackson, who rushed for 125 yards and three touchdowns, and Noah Murphy, who rushed for 185 yards and a touchdown while picking up 10.3 yards per carry. Murphy was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 60 yards. Ty Harper got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Daingerfield can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They breezed by Hooks on the road to the tune of 33-6. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Daingerfield had established a 20 point advantage.
West Rusk pushed their record up to 10-2 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.3 points per game. As for Daingerfield, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's contest: West Rusk has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 371 total yards per game.
