Lakes has gone a perfect 5-0 against Johnsburg recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Eagles will head out to challenge the Skyhawks at 6:30 p.m. Lakes' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Johnsburg's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Lakes turned things around against Grant Community on Thursday. They walked away with an 8-5 win over the Bulldogs.

Meanwhile, Johnsburg hadn't done well against Marian Central Catholic recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Skyhawks walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Hurricanes. The win was nothing new for the Skyhawks as they're now sitting on four straight.

Johnsburg got a great performance from Peyton Mesce as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. Mesce has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Johnsburg saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dom Vallone, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Johnsburg pushed their record up to 21-7 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Lakes, their victory bumped their record up to 18-10.

Everything went Lakes' way against Johnsburg in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Lakes made off with a 10-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
