D'yan Carter leads a balanced attack to beat Lanham Christian

Recap: Springdale Prep Lions vs. Lanham Christian Lions

The Springdale Prep Lions's three-game losing streak came to an end on Monday. They managed a 61-55 victory over Lanham Christian. The win was all the more spectacular given Springdale Prep's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while Lanham Christian is ranked 24th).

Springdale Prep got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was D'yan Carter out in front who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Carter also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Micah Massey, who scored ten points along with five assists and four steals.

Lanham Christian lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Diego Joy, who scored 22 points along with two steals. Jamar Payen was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.

Springdale Prep now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Lanham Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 13-3.

Springdale Prep will head out on the road to square off against Rosedale Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lanham Christian, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Calverton at 4:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Calverton is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
