Basketball Game Preview: Browne Bruins vs. Cesar Chavez Champions

Browne is 0-10 against Cesar Chavez since January of 2018 but things could change on Thursday. The Browne Bruins will square off against the Cesar Chavez Champions at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Tuesday, Browne lost to Camelback at home by a 88-73 margin. The Bruins have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Tony Bayigamba, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. That's the most points he has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Desmynn Beavers-Smith, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 12 points in addition to six assists and five boards.

Meanwhile, Cesar Chavez entered their tilt with Maryvale on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They had just enough and edged the Panthers out 57-55.

Cesar Chavez has also been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.4 points per game. As for Browne, their loss dropped their record down to 9-14.

Browne was dealt a bruising 72-39 defeat at the hands of Cesar Chavez in their previous matchup back in January. Can Browne avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
