Baseball Recap: Silsbee Comes Up Short

After soaring to 12 runs the game before, Silsbee was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They lost 7-0 to the Huntington Red Devils. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Tigers were not able to get on the board.

Silsbee got a good showing from Peyton Grisham, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave Grisham a new career-high in strikeouts (two).

At the plate, Silsbee saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was J Miller, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. Brendon Hughes also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Even though they lost, Silsbee hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Huntington struck out seven times.

The defeat snapped Silsbee's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 11-3 record. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Huntington, their victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-1.

Silsbee has already played their next game, an 8-8 tie against Anahuac on the 8th. As for Huntington, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 7-3 win against Hamshire-Fannett on the 8th.
