Baseball Recap: George Washington Comes Up Short

George Washington extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 2-6 in the process. They came up short against the Abraham Lincoln Railsplitters, falling 25-1. If the Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 18-1 to the Railsplitters when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Abraham Lincoln, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games.

For Abraham Lincoln's part, Felino Martinez was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave Martinez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sebastian Perez, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. George Washington will take on Roxborough at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. The Wolves have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.33 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Abraham Lincoln, they will square off against Thomas A. Edison at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Owls' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Railsplitters' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
