Volleyball Game Preview: Raton Tigers vs. Laguna Acoma Hawks

The Raton Tigers will face off against the Laguna Acoma Hawks at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Raton heads in on the heels of a playoff match on Thursday. They lost 3-0 to Tatum. The Tigers' defeat signaled the end of their 13-game winning streak.

Despite the loss, Raton saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Aveah Marquez had 17 digs and one assist. Marquez has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last 16 times she's played.

Meanwhile, Laguna Acoma came up short against Rehoboth Christian on Thursday and fell 3-1.

Laguna Acoma's defeat dropped their record down to 14-10. As for Raton, their loss dropped their record down to 20-4.

Raton couldn't quite get it done against Laguna Acoma in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 as they fell 3-1. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
