Baseball Game Preview: University City Centurions vs. West Hills Wolf Pack

The University City Centurions will be taking part in a tournament against the West Hills Wolf Pack at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Neither University City nor West Hills posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

University City took a 11-run loss the last time they faced off against La Jolla Country Day, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. University City won by a run and slipped past La Jolla Country Day 2-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Centurions.

Antonio 'AJ' Curry made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out 13 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Curry was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Curry wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Josh Kaplan, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave Kaplan a new career-high.

Meanwhile, West Hills lost 12-1 to Coronado on Wednesday.

West Hills also got a good showing from Trevor Youngdale, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

University City pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.2 runs over those games. As for West Hills, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
