The Atholton Raiders will square off against the Sherwood Warriors on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Atholton is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They put the hurt on Blake with a sharp 10-4 win.
Elli Cathirell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kamryn Marable, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Reagan Law, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Atholton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .400 or higher in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Sherwood strolled into their game on Thursday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They blew past Northwest 9-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Kylie Valios looked comfortable as she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single hit in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Rylie Friend was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Avery Anderson was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Sherwood pushed their record up to 14-0 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Atholton, their record now sits at 5-10-1.
Atholton might still be hurting after the 10-1 defeat they got from Sherwood in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Raiders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
