Football Recap: Penns Manor Comes Up Short

Penns Manor had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 3-6 to make it seven. They were dealt a 44-14 loss at the hands of United Valley co-op [Blacklick Valley/United]. The Comets were not able to make up for their defeat to United Valley co-op [Blacklick Valley/United] from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

Despite the loss, Penns Manor still got an impressive performance from Brady Lewis, who picked up 111 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 34 yards. Lewis got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 63 yards. Penns Manor also got a significant boost from Justin Vojtek, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 116 yards.

Penns Manor didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Issac Illig and Nick Frampton.

As for United Valley co-op [Blacklick Valley/United], the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-3. Given their advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while Penns Manor is ranked 327th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

United Valley co-op [Blacklick Valley/United]'s success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Shaydon Oleksa led the charge by rushing for 145 yards and one TD on only 11 carries. Cole McGinnis was another key player, picking up 87 receiving yards and three scores.

Penns Manor has already played their next contest, a 41-20 loss against Marion Center on the 24th. As for United Valley co-op [Blacklick Valley/United], they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 41-22 win against Purchase Line on the 24th.
