Matanzas won the last time they faced Belleview and Wiley Conner did his part to make sure it happened again. The Pirates were the clear victors by a 26-6 margin over the Rattlers on Friday with plenty of help from Conner, who rushed for 163 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He has become a key player for Matanzas: the team is undefeated when he posts at least 100 rushing yards, but 2-3 otherwise.

The victory made it two in a row for Matanzas and bumps their season record up to 5-3. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 19 points in those games. As for Belleview, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Matanzas and Belleview will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time the Pirates see the field they'll take on Menendez at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th. As for Belleview, their break will end when they face Mainland at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th.
