Basketball Game Preview: Miller School of Albemarle Mavericks vs. Grace Christian School Kings

The Miller School of Albemarle Mavericks will square off against the Grace Christian School Kings at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Tuesday, Miller School of Albemarle was fully in charge, breezing past The Covenant 78-31. The Mavericks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 22 points or more this season.

Ryan Crotty was his usual excellent self, going 6 of 8 en route to 19 points in addition to seven boards and five assists. That's the most assists he has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Saunders, who went 7 for 10 on his way to 16 points.

Meanwhile, Grace Christian School hadn't done well against Life Christian Academy recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Grace Christian School enjoyed a cozy 65-47 victory over Life Christian Academy. Given the Kings' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 133rd, while the Eagles are ranked 340th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Grace Christian School has also been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.2 points per game. As for Miller School of Albemarle, the win got them back to even at 10-10.
