Suggested Video

Redford Union had lost five straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 7-20-1 to make it six. They lost 15-0 to the Hazel Park Vikings. If the Panthers were looking for revenge after losing 8-7 to the Vikings when the teams met back in April of 2015, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Hazel Park, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 14-15. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 games by six runs or more this season.

For Hazel Park's part, Kathryn Chappell (2026) made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Chappell (2026) has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, La'Onna Otis (2027) and Lillian Griffiths (2027) did most of the damage at the plate: Otis (2027) went 3-for-4 with three doubles, four RBI, and two runs, while Griffiths (2027) went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three doubles gave Otis (2027) a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryleigh Adams (2027), who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

As of now, neither Redford Union nor Hazel Park have any future games scheduled.
