Basketball Recap: Pana Takes a Loss

After flying high against Litchfield last Monday, Pana came back down to earth. The Pana Panthers were beaten by the PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central Bluejays 63-36 on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 333rd, while the Bluejays are ranked 69th).

Pana's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pana and Varsity Opponent will round out the year against one another at at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central, they will challenge Calhoun/Brussels at 5:00 p.m. on January 2, 2025. PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
