Volleyball Recap: Southwest Roughriders vs. Bruning-Davenport/Shickley Eagles

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Southwest can now relate to. They came up short against the Bruning-Davenport/Shickley Eagles on Saturday, falling 3-0. The match marked the first time this season in which the Roughriders were not able to get on the board.

Southwest took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-22, 27-25.

Kyra Nelms paced Southwest's offense, picking up 15 kills. Nelms got some help from Aspen Billeter and her 34 assists. Allison Vanpelt controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

This is the second loss in a row for Southwest and nudges their season record down to 34-2. As for Bruning-Davenport/Shickley, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 23 of their last 25 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 30-5 record this season.
