Recap: Carbondale Terriers vs. Mt. Vernon Rams
The Carbondale Terriers suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Thursday. They were outmatched by Mt. Vernon on the road and fell 66-37. Carbondale was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-22.
Melaina Zedalis was her usual excellent self, scoring 29 points along with six steals for Mt. Vernon. Zedalis has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamaree Pollard, who scored nine points along with ten assists and five steals.
Carbondale has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season. As for Mt. Vernon, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-3.
Carbondale will square off against Pinckneyville at 2:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Mt. Vernon, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Althoff Catholic at 2:00 p.m. on January 13th. Althoff Catholic is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
