Softball Recap: Hiawatha Comes Up Short

If Hiawatha was feeling good fresh off their 15-0 takedown of Royal Valley last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Red Hawks came up short against the Silver Lake Eagles on Monday, falling 16-3. The loss continues a trend for the Red Hawks in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost three in a row.

Michaela Williams made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season.

Hiawatha's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Silver Lake, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hiawatha will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Sabetha at 4:30 p.m. on the 24th. As for Silver Lake, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Jefferson West at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles are on a five-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), the Tigers a three-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind.
