Baseball Recap: Canyon View Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Canyon View dropped their record down to 20-5 on Friday, which also ended the team's eight-game streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of the Juab Wasps by a score of 5-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wasps this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-2 on Tuesday.

Zach Maine made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Asher Slack, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

As for Juab, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 19-5. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games.

On Juab's side, Austin Park made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Park was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Connor Cowan was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Trevin Park was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Canyon View does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Juab, they will square off against Manti at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. The Templars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.14 runs per game on average), something the Wasps will no doubt try to take advantage of.
