Softball Recap: Friday's Win Is Las Cruces' Fourth in Last Five Outings

It's playoff time, and Las Cruces had no trouble coming through when it counted. They beat the Cibola Cougars on Friday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 7-1. Considering the Bulldawgs have won 14 games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Leah Pacheco spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 17 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Erica Silva, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Zaysha Hawkins, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Las Cruces is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-10 record this season. As for Cibola, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 24-7.

Las Cruces didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 18-2 loss against La Cueva on the 16th. Cibola does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
