Baseball Recap: Douglass Triumphs

Douglass's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Guilford Park Panther, sneaking past 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted since April 24, 2024.

Arrington Price, III made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over two innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

Price, III wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Dillon Ellis, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI. Those three hits gave Ellis a new career-high. Eric Guzman was another, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Douglass' win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Guilford Park, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Douglass will challenge Largo at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Guilford Park, they will take on South River in a tournament on Thursday. The Panther's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Seahawks have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
