Preview: Forrest Rockets vs. Cascade Champions
Forrest is 1-9 against Cascade since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Forrest Rockets will look to defend their home court against the Cascade Champions at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, things could have been worse for Forrest, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 65-49 loss to Grundy County. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Forrest in their matchups with Grundy County: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite their defeat, Forrest saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Ben Villazon, who scored 16 points along with two blocks, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Tristan Goad, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Cascade's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 62-47 to Cannon County. While losing is never fun, Cascade can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 282nd, while Cannon County is ranked 120th).
Forrest dropped their record down to 3-16 with that defeat, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Cascade, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.
Forrest couldn't quite finish off Cascade when the teams last played back in February of 2023 and fell 39-36. Can Forrest avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
