Preview: Westview vs. Grand Island Islanders
Westview will be playing in front of their home fans against the Grand Island Islanders at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Westview will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
Westview was handed a three-point loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against the Bison on Tuesday. Westview blew past the Bison 67-20 at home. With that victory, Westview brought their scoring average up to 50.4 points per game.
Westview can attribute much of their success to Stella Williams, who scored 15 points along with two blocks, and Macy Kellner, who scored 14 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Kellner has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cardy King, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.
Meanwhile, Grand Island's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight defeat. They had to suffer through a rough 65-21 loss at the hands of Lincoln East. Grand Island was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-13.
Despite their loss, Grand Island saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Lilly Goodwin, who scored eight points along with six rebounds, was perhaps the best of all.
Westview's win bumped their record up to 6-10. As for Grand Island, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-14.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Westview have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Grand Island struggles in that department as they've been averaging 24.3 rebounds per game.
