Baseball Recap: Long Beach Poly Takes a Loss

Long Beach Poly lost against Woodrow Wilson back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Jackrabbits fell 5-1 to the Bruins. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 21, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Long Beach Poly got a good showing from Ryan King, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. King also tossed no walks, which is notable because the Jackrabbits are 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 10-11 otherwise.

At the plate, Long Beach Poly saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Deven Munoz, who went 2-for-3 with one run. Lucas Guggenheim also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Long Beach Poly's loss dropped their record down to 12-12. As for Woodrow Wilson, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 17-7 record this season.

Long Beach Poly will face off against Compton at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Jackrabbits' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tarbabes have averaged an impressive 6.1 runs per game this season. As for Woodrow Wilson, they will take on Jordan at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
