Baseball Recap: Evangel Christian Academy Has No Trouble Against Cotopaxi

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Byers, Evangel Christian Academy was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They put the hurt on the Cotopaxi Pirates with a sharp 14-0 win. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Evangel Christian Academy let Zachary Blair and Levi Alexander run wild. Blair got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Alexander went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Alexander has become a key player for Evangel Christian Academy: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Lucia, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Evangel Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cotopaxi only posted an OBP of .211.

The win got Evangel Christian Academy back to even at 7-7. As for Cotopaxi, they dropped their record down to 1-7 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

Evangel Christian Academy will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Pirates: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
