Preview: Pearl River vs. Sci Academy
Sci Academy will challenge Pearl River on the road at 7:00 PM on Friday. It might come down to the wire as the MaxPreps state rankings project a close game.
It's always hard to lose, and it's even harder to lose by a single point. Just ask Sci Academy, the unfortunate recipient of a 21-22 loss at the hands of Jeanerette last week. Senior Rondell Brown and senior Darryl Montgomery were two go-getters for Sci Academy despite the loss. The former caught passes for 169 yards and 3 touchdowns, while the latter passed for 209 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Pearl River gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener. They were fully in charge, breezing past Cohen 55-16. With Pearl River ahead 35-8, the match was all but decided by halftime.
Pearl River's win lifted them to 1-0 while Sci Academy's defeat dropped them down to 0-1. We'll find out if Pearl River can add another positive mark to their record or if Sci Academy can shake off the defeat and take the spring out of Pearl River's step.
