Softball Recap: Cypress Christian Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Cypress Christian had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Kelly Catholic Bulldogs. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-3 back in March.

Megan Smith was incredible, firing off two home runs, seven RBI, and four runs while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Audrey Petrowski was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.

Cypress Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .480. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .355 or higher in seven consecutive contests.

Cypress Christian's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-7. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Kelly Catholic, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-17-2 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Cypress Christian beat Kelly Catholic by a score of 10-0 later that day.
