Basketball Recap: Nueces Canyon Takes a Loss

Nueces Canyon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 87-53 loss at the hands of the Rocksprings Angoras. The Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-18.

Rocksprings got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Hunter Taylor out in front who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 15 boards. The matchup was Taylor's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dwayne Rivera, who went 11 of 16 en route to 27 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals.

Nueces Canyon's defeat dropped their record down to 2-23. As for Rocksprings, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-12.

Nueces Canyon will be playing at home against Leakey at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Rocksprings, they will head out to face off against D'Hanis at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
