Softball Game Preview: Conneaut Area Eagles vs. Erie Royals

Conneaut Area is a perfect 5-0 against Erie since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Eagles will take on the Royals at 4:30 p.m. Conneaut Area comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Conneaut Area couldn't beat Corry on Thursday even though they stacked five runs on them in the first inning. The Eagles came up short against the Beavers, falling 20-5.

Abby Potts made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Erie). They blew past Conneaut 18-3 on Saturday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Royals considering their one-run performance the game before.

Norah Derooy was incredible, firing off two home runs, eight RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Isabella Oosterkamp, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and one double.

Erie kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Conneaut Area's defeat dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Erie, their win ended a 17-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-15.

Everything went Conneaut Area's way against Erie when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Conneaut Area made off with an 18-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
