Baseball Recap: Thousand Oaks Takes a Loss

Thousand Oaks had lost five straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 16-9 to make it six. They came up short against the Agoura Chargers, falling 12-2. That's two games in a row now that the Lancers have lost by exactly ten runs.

Jett Adams was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Matthew Magruder, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base.

As for Agoura, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 14-12. They not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 17th (when they won 13-1).

On Agoura's side, Donovan Anthony tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Anthony also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Chargers are 6-3 when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Agoura let Tyler Starling and Braden Oliver run wild. Starling went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base, while Oliver went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Starling is becoming a predictor of Agoura's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 10-11 when he doesn't). Jordan Tagawa was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

While Thousand Oaks had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
