Volleyball Recap: Devils Lake's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

Devils Lake came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Mayville-Portland-Clifford-Galesburg Patriots, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Firebirds have suffered since September 11th.

The final score came out to 25-16, 25-19, 25-17.

Emma Hofstad paced Devils Lake's offense, picking up seven kills. Hofstad got some help from Riley Remmick and her eight assists. Hofstad also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Brynlee Wolf, each putting up two.

With the loss, Devils Lake broke their four-match winning streak and moved their record to 12-10-2. As for Mayville-Portland-Clifford-Galesburg, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 12-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Devils Lake will venture away from home to square off against Turtle Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mayville-Portland-Clifford-Galesburg, they will head out to challenge Valley City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
