Basketball Game Preview: Wayne Badgers vs. Tabiona Tigers

Wayne hasn't had much luck against Tabiona recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The two teams will round out the year against one another at at 6:00 p.m. Wayne has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Wayne is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Draper APA on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Wayne lost 73-52 to Draper APA. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Badgers have suffered since January 11th.

The losing side was boosted by Blake Peterson, who went 7 of 14 on his way to 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Robins, who posted eight points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Wayne smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Tabiona's strategy against St. Joseph on Friday. Tabiona was the clear victor by a 58-34 margin over St. Joseph. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-7.

Tabiona's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Wayne, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Wayne came up short against Tabiona when the teams last played back in February, falling 57-45. Can Wayne avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
