Texas high school football rankings: No. 1 Duncanville readies for showdown with national power IMG Academy

Quinn Ewers, Southlake Carroll win opener in wild shootout with Rockwall-Heath.

The No. 1 team in the MaxPreps Texas Top 25 high school football rankings will take on the nation's top-ranked team this week as Duncanville welcomes IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) to Globe Life Park in Arlington.

Duncanville opened its season Friday by smacking South Oak Cliff (Dallas) 41-3. IMG Academy, meanwhile, is 4-0 with wins over teams from three different states. The Ascenders thrashed Life Christian Academy (Chester, Va.) 52-8 over the weekend.

In another opener, the nation's top-rated junior quarterback Quinn Ewers helped No. 4 Southlake Carroll go 1-0 with a 72-57 win over Rockwall-Heath. Ewers completed 21 of 27 pass attempts for 387 yards and five touchdown passes.

The weekend's other pivotal contest with regard to the rankings was No. 2 Denton Ryan holding on for a 23-20 win over No. 5 Denton Guyer.
