Basketball Recap: Farmington Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Cibola

On Wednesday, Farmington faced Cibola in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Farmington Scorpions fell 73-62 to the Cibola Cougars. The Scorpions have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.

Farmington lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Michael Beck, who went 8-for-14 on his way to 21 points and five rebounds. That's the most points he has posted since back in February of 2024. Dylon Tso was another key player, going 8-for-12 en route to 17 points and eight boards.

Even though they lost, Farmington smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Farmington's defeat dropped their record down to 16-9. As for Cibola, their victory bumped their record up to 17-8.

Farmington wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 59-33 win against Piedra Vista on the 21st. As for Cibola, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 93-36 loss against Volcano Vista on the 21st.
