Recap: South Pontotoc Cougars vs. West Lauderdale Knights
The South Pontotoc Cougars and the West Lauderdale Knights squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the South Pontotoc Cougars had to settle for second. South Pontotoc was beaten by West Lauderdale 57-0. While losing is never fun, South Pontotoc can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 207th, while West Lauderdale is ranked 64th).
It was another big night for K.p Peoples, who rushed for 123 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries. Peoples really tore up the turf during one magnificent 71-yard run. Travion Mosley also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.
South Pontotoc has yet to win a contest on the road this season, leaving them with a 4-7 record. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 6.7 points per game. As for West Lauderdale, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 10-1.
South Pontotoc does not have any more games scheduled as of now. West Lauderdale will face off against Amory at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
