Basketball Recap: Philip Simmons Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

On Monday, the Philip Simmons Iron Horses beat the Andrews Yellowjackets 37-28.

Philip Simmons can attribute much of their success to Germany Moore, who posted eight points in addition to 21 boards and four steals. The dominant performance gave Moore a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Marshall Love, who put up four points and seven boards.

Philip Simmons smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in seven consecutive contests.

Despite the defeat, Andrews saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Camaria Gibson had 17 points.

Philip Simmons' win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-13. As for Andrews, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 14 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-19 record this season.

Philip Simmons wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 51-28 victory against Academic Magnet on the 4th. Andrews has also already played their next contest, a 55-33 loss against Timberland on the 4th.
