Basketball Recap: Kirksville Takes a Loss

Fans were treated to a battle of the Tigers on Saturday. Kirksville fell just short of Canton by a score of 59-57. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Kirksville of the 47-46 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

Preston Brewer continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Canton, dropping a double-double with 28 points and 12 rebounds. Brewer has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Tyler Frazier was another key player, putting up 12 points in addition to eight boards and three steals.

Kirksville's loss dropped their record down to 15-8. As for Canton, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season.

Kirksville didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 45-41 win against Chillicothe on the 24th. Canton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
