Softball Game Preview: Malone Tigers vs. Poplar Springs Atomics

Malone hasn't had much luck against Poplar Springs recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Tigers will welcome the Atomics at 5:30 p.m. Malone has given up an average of 13.8 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Malone's offense. They came up short against Chipley on Thursday, falling 16-0. Malone's defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Poplar Springs). They blew past Gadsden County 26-16 on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Atomics.

Brianna Flores was a standout: she fired off two home runs, three runs, and one stolen base while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Abby Duffell was another key player, firing off two home runs and four runs while going 2-for-5.

Poplar Springs was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .472. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Poplar Springs' win bumped their record up to 3-13. As for Malone, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10.

Everything went Malone's way against Poplar Springs in their previous meeting back in March, as Malone made off with a 20-3 victory. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Atomics have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
